Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab announced on Thursday the arrest of the "terrorist cell" responsible for the bombings that targeted the capital Damascus two days earlier.
Khattab said in a post on his account on the American platform X: "The cell responsible for the terrorist bombings that targeted Damascus two days ago is now in our custody."
He explained that "after completing the investigations, we will reveal to the public the identities of the cell members, their roles, and all their affiliations."
On Tuesday, the Syrian Interior Ministry announced that 18 people, including four police officers, were injured in the explosion of two primitive improvised explosive devices near the Ministry of Tourism building in Damascus.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that the final toll of the two bombings was one dead and 36 injured.
The two bombings coincided with a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to Damascus.
No party has claimed responsibility for the bombings, while Syrian authorities continue their efforts to enhance security since the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024.
