The Syrian Interior Ministry announced the execution of a qualitative security operation that resulted in the arrest of former Major General Ali Saleh Diyab, former head of the military security branch in Qamishli between 2008 and 2018, accused of committing systematic violations and crimes against youth in Hasaka and Qamishli, as part of efforts to pursue those involved in cases affecting citizens' security.
The Syrian Interior Ministry stated that the internal security forces carried out a qualitative security operation, based on precise monitoring and follow-up, resulting in the arrest of former Major General Ali Saleh Diyab, one of the prominent officers in the military and security apparatus during the era of the deposed regime.
Security records reveal that the aforementioned held the position of head of the military security branch in the city of Qamishli for a full decade, spanning from 2008 to 2018, and during that period his name was associated with systematic violations and crimes, in addition to being close to the most prominent leaders of the security agencies at that time.
Investigations indicate his direct responsibility for pursuing and arresting large numbers of young people in the governorates of Hasaka and Qamishli, and handing them over to the Palestine Branch and Sednaya military prison, which was notorious for its grave violations.
This operation comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts by the Syrian authorities to pursue those involved in cases affecting citizens' security and rights, and to bring them to justice.
