141 people were arrested on the night of Tuesday-Wednesday in Paris and its suburbs during celebrations related to the France-Spain match in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, according to an initial tally from the Paris police headquarters.

The headquarters stated that these arrests are mainly linked to "the use of pyrotechnic projectiles aimed at security forces and emergency services."

According to the same source, no serious injuries were reported. The French national team was eliminated from the World Cup semifinals after losing 0-2 to Spain. Last year, on the same date, 175 people were arrested. During the night of July 13-14, "98 people were arrested, compared to 176" last year. Around 7,000 police and gendarmes were deployed in Paris and its suburbs on July 13 and 14.
