(CNN)— The US military announced Monday a new series of attacks on Iran, following last night's strikes to which Tehran responded by targeting sites in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that the strikes were aimed at continuing to "undermine its ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz freely."

For its part, official Iranian media reported a series of explosions late Sunday evening at several sites in Hormozgan province in southern Iran.

The explosions occurred in Jask, Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik in the province, where officials confirmed no civilian casualties or damage to infrastructure.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said in a statement: "According to preliminary reports, tonight's attack targeted a communications tower" in Sirik County, noting that it was "the same site targeted in previous attacks."

Following last night's strikes, CENTCOM denied Iranian reports that indicated the killing of US soldiers during strikes on Kuwait.

CENTCOM said in a statement that "Iranian propaganda today spoke of the killing of 3 US soldiers in Kuwait from Iranian strikes. This is not true."

The statement added that "no reports have been received of deaths or injuries among US forces in the region. They are all fine."

Earlier Sunday, the Kuwaiti army announced that three land border posts in the north of the country were subjected to an "aggressive attack," resulting in "material damage."

A statement by the official spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Staff Saud Abdulaziz Al-Attouan, said: "Three land border posts in the north of the country were subjected to a sinful aggressive attack, resulting in material damage."

The statement added: "Also, one of the offshore drilling platforms belonging to the Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwait's territorial waters was targeted by a hostile drone, resulting in material damage and injury to one worker, who is receiving necessary medical care."

This was preceded by the Kuwait Armed Forces' announcement that they had confronted "hostile aerial targets" inside the country's airspace.

Also on Sunday, the UAE Ministry of Defense said that air defenses were dealing with "missile attacks," while sirens sounded in Bahrain.

This comes amid continued escalation between the United States and Iran, with the US Central Command announcing the execution of a third round of strikes targeting Iranian military sites on Sunday.
