Israeli settlers on Sunday burned a restaurant south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank after stealing a sum of money, and carried out other attacks including intrusions and vandalism in various parts of the West Bank.
Local sources told Anadolu that settlers stormed a restaurant near Al-Zaytouna University, between the towns of Al-Lubban al-Sharqiya and Ammouriya south of Nablus, smashed its doors, stole an amount of money, then set it on fire, completely burning it, under Israeli army protection.
The sources added that the restaurant served university students, and estimated the damages from the fire at about 1 million shekels (around $300,000).
In the central West Bank, sources reported that settlers, accompanied by their livestock, attacked the vicinity of homes in the northern part of Sinjil town north of Ramallah, attempting to storm it, before residents confronted them and forced them to retreat.
This attack comes days after Israeli authorities seized 464.4 dunams of the town's land under the name 'state lands,' a step that the Commission of Resistance to the Wall and Settlements (a government body) said aims to expand settlement activity in the area.
In East Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement received by Anadolu that a settler let his sheep roam among residents' homes in the Ka'abneh - Kussarat community near Anata town, in a 'provocative attack' targeting the Bedouin community and its residents.
The governorate added that the settler deliberately walked his sheep among the houses, obstructed residents' movement, preventing them from entering or leaving the community, along with provoking the residents.
In the southern West Bank, local sources told Anadolu that a group of settlers stormed the vicinity of a Palestinian home in the Sha'b al-Battum area of Masafer Yatta south of Hebron, provoked family members, then cut the power line supplying the home.
Masafer Yatta areas witness repeated settler attacks targeting residents, their homes, and property, alongside escalating measures aimed at pressuring them to leave their lands.
On Sunday morning, Israeli forces stormed Hebron city and deployed in several of its streets.
Anadolu's correspondent said that an Israeli force raided a sweets shop in the Ras al-Joura area of the city, with no reports of arrests or injuries.
Palestinian towns and communities in the West Bank face escalating attacks by settlers against residents and their property, aiming to pressure them to leave their lands for settlement expansion and the establishment of more settlements and outposts.
The Israeli left-wing movement Peace Now estimates the number of settlers in the West Bank at about 500,000, in addition to about 250,000 in settlements built in occupied East Jerusalem.
Since October 8, 2023, the West Bank has seen an Israeli escalation by Israeli forces and settlers, resulting in the killing of 1,175 Palestinians and the injury of 12,919 others, in addition to the arrest of about 24,000 and the displacement of 33,000, according to official Palestinian data.
