Seattle, July 7 (QNA) - The Belgian national football team booked its place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup after securing a big 4-1 victory over its American counterpart at Lumen Field in Seattle, setting up a meeting with Spain in the next round.

Charles De Ketelaere opened the scoring for Belgium in the 9th minute, before Malik Tillman equalized for the United States with a direct free kick in the 31st minute. Belgium did not wait long to regain the lead, as De Ketelaere scored his second personal goal in the 33rd minute, ending the first half with Belgium ahead 2-1.

In the second half, Hans Vanaken strengthened Belgium's lead by scoring the third goal in the 57th minute, while the American team failed to capitalize on the opportunities that came its way to reduce the deficit, lacking offensive effectiveness against Thibaut Courtois' goal. In stoppage time, Romelu Lukaku completed Belgium's four-goal haul, confirming his team's superiority and securing the qualification ticket to the quarterfinals, where they will face Spain in a highly anticipated match next Friday.
