2026 World Cup: King Felipe VI of Spain to Attend Final
The Royal Palace announced Wednesday that King Felipe VI of Spain will attend his country's match in the 2026 World Cup final, scheduled for Sunday in East Rutherford, on the outskirts of New York.
The Royal Palace told AFP: 'All four will go,' referring to King Felipe VI, his wife Queen Letizia, and their daughters Princesses Leonor and Sofia.
Spain qualified for its second final in history by beating France 2-0 on Tuesday, and will face the winner of the match between defending champions Argentina and England, who meet later Wednesday.
King Felipe previously attended the third round of the group stage match between Spain and Uruguay (1-0) played in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Spain hopes to win the world title for the second time in its history, after the first in 2010 in South Africa when it beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the final.
During its first title 16 years ago, Spain was champion of Europe after winning the continental title in 2008, and will enter Sunday's final as champion of the old continent again after lifting the trophy two years ago in Germany.
