Spain captain and midfielder Rodri, who won the 2026 FIFA World Cup by beating Argentina 1-0 after extra time on Sunday, said that 'winning with your country's team is the most beautiful thing ever,' during a reception held at the Spanish government headquarters led by Pedro Sánchez in Madrid.

Rodri said: 'I always say it: winning with your country's team is the most beautiful thing ever, especially the World Cup. Lifting the cup is the greatest achievement you can accomplish in football.'

He added: 'This generation grew up watching Iker Casillas and Andrés Iniesta lift the cup (in 2010), and that we could achieve it today is the greatest achievement you can accomplish in football.'
