The 2026 World Cup set unprecedented records, accompanying the first edition featuring 48 teams in terms of both fan attendance and digital engagement as the Round of 16 concluded.
FIFA announced that the tournament achieved exceptional numbers, exceeding 20 billion video views across its various digital platforms and social media.
In terms of on-site attendance, the number of fans in stadiums surpassed 6.25 million, with a seat occupancy rate of 99.7% in host venues and an average of over 65,000 fans per match.
FIFA noted that operational and technical aspects reflected the tournament's scale: 161,000 kilometers of fiber optics were deployed, over 13 million gigabytes of data transmitted via tournament and broadcast networks, and more than a billion cyber threats countered.
It indicated that hospitality package sales exceeded 600,000 packages, 60% of which were for individual fans seeking unique experiences and 40% for corporate clients, signaling growth in the sports hospitality market at the tournament.
