3 Arab Referees in 2026 World Cup Final Officiating Team: Who Are They?

(CNN)-- The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has appointed the officiating team for the 2026 World Cup final, which brings together Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium next Sunday.
The officiating team includes 3 Arab referees: Jordanian Adham Al-Makhadmeh, his compatriot Mohammad Al-Khalf, and Qatari Khamis Al-Marri.
This trio previously officiated some matches in the current World Cup, specifically referee Adham Al-Makhadmeh as the main referee for the matches Spain vs. Cape Verde, Belgium vs. New Zealand, England vs. Democratic Republic of Congo, and USA vs. Belgium. Below is the officiating team for the final match:
Referee: Slavko Vinčić (Slovenia). Assistant referee 1: Tomaž Klančnik (Slovenia). Assistant referee 2: Andraž Kovačič (Slovenia). Fourth official: Adham Al-Makhadmeh (Jordan). Reserve assistant referee: Mohammad Al-Khalf (Jordan). Video Assistant Referee (VAR): Bastian Dankert (Germany). Assistant Video Assistant Referee (VAR): Khamis Al-Marri (Qatar).
