The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced the number of national songs to be played at the 2026 World Cup stadiums, reaching 750 songs. FIFA explained that the stadium entertainment team worked with participating national associations to prepare music playlists, mixing classic matchday songs with those favored in each country. The federation noted that each team has a distinct song played when the lineup is announced, another for warm-up, a music clip for when they score a goal, and after each match, fans of the winning team get the opportunity to sing and celebrate to the victory song.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the number of national songs to be played at the 2026 World Cup stadiums, reaching 750 songs. FIFA explained that the stadium entertainment team worked with participating national associations to prepare music playlists, blending classic matchday songs with those favored in each country. The international federation pointed out that each national team has a distinct song played when the lineup is announced, another for the warm-up period, in addition to a music clip played when a goal is scored, and after each match, fans of the winning team get the opportunity to sing and celebrate to the victory song. These music playlists provide an interesting cultural glimpse of the World Cup, which for the first time in the 2026 edition features 48 teams. Some music clips have global reach and appear in more than one playlist, such as 'Seven Nation Army' by The White Stripes, 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC, and certainly the famous 1990s Eurodance track 'Free from Desire' by Gala, which has been heard in sports stadiums for at least a decade. The playlists dedicated to the national teams include artistic works linked to each country's identity, such as Argentina choosing the song 'El Matador' by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs as the warm-up and goal celebration song. In contrast, the dance track 'Kakalika', released in 2025 by the duo 'Dub Nation', is the special goal celebration song for the Ghana national team. The Ghanaian duo behind this work described the song as a mix of musical styles and national and international languages, aiming to accept diversity and encourage listeners to have a good time. Mexico chose three different songs by 'Mariachi Vargas', a folk music group founded in 1897, which has been passed down through several generations and continues to achieve great success, while South Korea chose a group of K-pop songs by famous groups such as 'Blackpink' and 'BTS'. When Kylian Mbappé scores a goal for France, fans can sing along to 'One More Time' by the French electronic duo 'Daft Punk'. For Australia, there is the classic song 'Down Under' by 'Men at Work', while the Belgian team trains to the famous techno music 'Pump Up the Jam' by 'Technotronic'.
