The Dallas stadium in the US state of Texas will be the stage for the highly anticipated historic summit between France and Spain, as part of the semi-final round of the 2026 World Cup, next Tuesday evening.

This match is considered an early final, especially as it brings together two of the most prominent contenders for the title, along with England and Argentina, who meet in the other semi-final on Wednesday evening.

The Spanish national team was one of the main favorites to win the World Cup before the tournament started, while the French team strengthened its chances thanks to the performances it delivered during the World Cup, making the awaited clash between them a real test between two teams that include an elite group of global football stars.

Spanish superiority in the last two meetings

The 'Matador' enters the awaited summit relying on its superiority over the 'Roosters' in the last two meetings, notably that they took place in the semi-final round, but in two different tournaments.

Spain defeated France 2-1 in the semi-final of the European Championship 'Euro 2024', before winning the title against England by the same score.

It also repeated its superiority by winning 5-4 in the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League last year, a match that saw Spain take a 4-0 lead, then 5-1, before France rallied in the last 15 minutes scoring three goals, but they could not complete the comeback, as the Spanish team booked its place in the final, before losing the title on penalties to Portugal.

France seeks to break the curse

The Spanish national team hopes to continue its superiority over France, while the 'Roosters' seek to break what has become known as the 'semi-final curse' against the 'Matador'.

It is worth noting that the two teams have met only once in the history of the World Cup, in the round of 16 of the 2006 edition, when France won 3-1.
