At France's expense, England achieves World Cup bronze in ten-goal match

(CNN)-- England defeated France 6-4 at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night in the third-place match of the 2026 World Cup.
The 'Three Lions' scored four goals in the first half, with Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka (brace), and Ezri Konsa scoring in the 3rd, 18th, 37th, and 45+ minutes respectively.
The 'Roosters' attempted a comeback in the second half, scoring four goals through Kylian Mbappé (brace), Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé in the 48th, 54th, 66th, and 90+ minutes, but Saka and Jude Bellingham had scored the fifth and sixth goals for England in the 87th and 90+ minutes.
This is the first time the 'Three Lions' have finished third and won the bronze medal at the World Cup, having previously won the title in 1966 and finished fourth in 1900 and 2018 as their best achievements.
The tournament, held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, concludes on Sunday evening, with the final match between Argentina and Spain.
