Abu Trika: I hope Argentina qualifies for World Cup final
Mohamed Abu Trika, the Egyptian national team legend, hopes that Argentina will qualify for the 2026 World Cup final to face Spain, who secured their spot on Tuesday evening.
Spain advanced to the final for the second time in its history after defeating France 2-0, while they await the winner of the Argentina-England match scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Abu Trika said after the Spain-France match on beIN Sports, "We saw a final between Spain and England in the Euro 2024 final (which Spain won), and now we want to see a final between Spain and Argentina."
He pointed out that the English team is the easier opponent for Spain in the final, noting that Argentina will be tougher due to the presence of Lionel Messi.
Abu Trika explained that both the English and Argentine teams rely heavily on individual players.
He continued, "England is just two players: (Harry) Kane and (Jude) Bellingham. The team has scored 13 goals, and this duo has scored 12 of them. In contrast, Argentina is (Lionel) Messi."
He asked, "Which of them will tip the scales for their team? The Kane-Bellingham duo or Messi?"
