After Haitham Hassan... European Giant Moves for Emam Ashour
A European giant has made initial inquiries about the status of Egyptian player Emam Ashour, following his impressive performances with his national team in the World Cup.
Emam Ashour scored two goals during the Pharaohs' campaign in the 2026 World Cup, in matches against Belgium and Australia, before Egypt's elimination by Argentina in the Round of 16.
The interest revolves around Scottish club Celtic seeking to secure Ashour's services. His contract with Egypt's Al Ahly runs until summer 2028.
The website Celts Are Here reported that Celtic inquired about Ashour's situation to learn the financial terms required to complete the deal, aiming to bolster manager Martin O'Neill's squad.
Although some reports suggested that Al Ahly might demand a higher fee to release the player, the Scottish website insists that the deal can be completed for £4 million.
Celtic can offer the Egyptian player the opportunity to participate in European competitions, as well as the chance to play a key role under O'Neill.
Emam Ashour previously had experience in European football, having played for Denmark's FC Midtjylland before returning to Egypt and joining Al Ahly.
The Scottish website noted that Celtic also made an offer to sign Egyptian star Haitham Hassan from Real Oviedo for £3.5 million, but the Spanish club rejected the proposal.
