After Jordanian Duo, Another Arab Official in World Cup Final
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the video assistant referee (VAR) team for the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The VAR crew for the highly anticipated match, which will be held Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, includes an Arab official: Qatari Khamis Al-Marri, 41, who will serve as assistant video assistant referee.
According to FIFA, the team consists of Germany's Bastian Dankert (video assistant referee), assisted by Colombia's Nicolas Gallo and Qatar's Khamis Al-Marri.
The Qatar Football Association celebrated Al-Marri's participation in the World Cup final, wishing him success.

FIFA had announced on Friday the officiating team for the upcoming match, which included a Jordanian duo.
The on-field refereeing team consists of Slovenia's Slavko Vinčić (referee), Slovenia's Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič (assistant referees), Jordan's Adham Makhadmeh (fourth official), and his compatriot Mohammad Al-Kalaf (reserve assistant referee).
