Al-Ahli Closes in on Trincão
Al-Ahli's management has put Portuguese winger Francisco Trincão, Sporting Lisbon player, at the top of their priorities during the summer transfer window, as part of their efforts to strengthen the squad before the new season, following the departure of Algerian star Riyad Mahrez.
Portuguese media reports revealed that Al-Ahli has entered into negotiations with the player and his club to reach an agreement for his transfer to the Saudi Roshn League, with great interest from Al-Ahli management in signing one of the most prominent wingers in the Portuguese league.
Trincão, 26, is one of the most notable talents produced by Portuguese football in recent years. He started his career with Braga, before moving to Spanish Barcelona in 2020, then had a professional stint with English Wolverhampton, after which he returned to Portugal via Sporting Lisbon, where he succeeded in regaining his brilliance and became a key element in the team's lineup, and also has a continuous presence with the Portuguese national team.
Last season, Trincão delivered outstanding performances in a Sporting shirt, after participating in 34 matches in the Portuguese league, scoring 7 goals and providing 11 assists, confirming his great abilities in playmaking and offensive decisiveness, thanks to his speed, individual skills, and ability to play in more than one attacking position.
The player also has a rich record with Sporting, having played nearly 200 matches in various competitions, scoring about 45 goals, and contributing to the team winning the Portuguese league title twice, in addition to the Portuguese Cup, which prompted the club to extend his contract until 2030.
Al-Ahli continues to work on strengthening its squad with elements capable of competing locally and continentally, as the management sees Trincão as an ideal option to lead the offensive front due to his European experience and technical abilities, at a time when reports indicate that the coming days may witness decisive developments regarding the player's future.
