Al-Ittihad signs German coach Jens Wesing until 2028
Al-Ittihad Club has officially announced the signing of German coach Jens Wesing to take over the technical leadership of the team on a contract extending until the summer of 2028, as part of the club's preparations for the new sports season.
The signing of Wesing marks the beginning of a new phase for the team, as Al-Ittihad relies on the German coach to lead its technical project in the coming years, with preparations for the upcoming season underway.
Wesing, aged 38, is considered one of the most prominent emerging German coaches on the European and Asian scenes. After ending his playing career early due to injuries, he turned to coaching, working within the technical staff of several major clubs.
Wesing served as assistant coach to German Roger Schmidt at Dutch club PSV Eindhoven before continuing with him at Portuguese club Benfica, gaining technical experience in European competitions.
The German coach had his first managerial experience with Japanese club Gamba Osaka, where he led the team to win the AFC Champions League 2 title, an achievement that drew attention to his coaching potential.
Wesing is expected to lead Al-Ittihad's external training camp in preparation for the new season, with the goal of building a team capable of competing strongly for the Saudi Roshn League title.
