Nawan Center in Al-Makhwah Governorate held on Thursday evening the first horse racing event, organized by the Nawan Community Development Association as part of the Al-Baha Summer 2026 activities, under the patronage of Al-Makhwah Governor Ghallab bin Ghaleb Abu Khushaim.

Attending the event were Deputy Governor of Al-Makhwah Muhammad Hussein Al-Zaie, Mayor of the Governorate Engineer Saeed bin Saleh Al-Zahrani, Chairman of the Al-Makhwah Chamber Ahmad bin Saeed Al-Kharash, Chairman of the Al-Baha Chamber Mashi bin Muhammad Al-Amri, along with heads and directors of government agencies, a number of community leaders, and volunteers.

The riders competed in two rounds; the first was for the Al-Makhwah Chamber Cup sponsored by the Al-Makhwah Chamber, while the second round was for the Al-Makhwah Governorate Cup sponsored by businessman Mushrif Al-Ajran, in a competition that highlighted the skill of the riders and the quality of the participating horses.

The event highlighted the historical status of equestrianism in Saudi society as an authentic sport deeply rooted in the national identity, and also contributed to showcasing the cultural heritage of the Al-Baha region and enhancing its presence as a tourist and heritage destination within the Al-Baha Summer 2026 programs.

The event reflected an integration of roles among government agencies, the non-profit sector, and the private sector, as community partnerships contributed to presenting a distinguished edition that solidified Nawan Center's status as a destination for hosting major sports and heritage events.

At the conclusion of the race, the Governor of Al-Makhwah crowned the winners with cups and honored government agencies, the private sector, media entities, volunteer teams, and supporting parties, in appreciation of their contributions to the success of the event, which marks the launch of distinctive activities that stimulate tourism and economic movement and revive national heritage in Al-Makhwah Governorate.
