Al-Taawoun are continuing their activity in the summer transfer market, having neared an agreement to sign Algerian international defender Zineddine Belaid from JS Kabylie, in a move aimed at strengthening the team's defensive lineup ahead of the new sports season.

According to media reports, Al-Taawoun's management has entered advanced negotiations with the Algerian club, with a view to activating the release clause in the player's contract, valued at one million euros, in order to expedite the signing and finalize the deal within the coming days.

One of Algeria's top defenders: Belaid, 27, has emerged as one of the most prominent Algerian defenders in recent years. He began his career with Nasr Hussein Dey before shining with USM Alger, where he played over 130 matches and contributed to several achievements, most notably winning the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup. He then had a professional stint in the Belgian league with Sint-Truiden before returning to Algeria through JS Kabylie.

Belaid is known for his strength in aerial duels, composure in building play from the back, and his ability to effectively play as a center-back. These qualities have earned him a place in the Algerian national team, where he has participated in several international competitions and continued to solidify his presence with the Desert Warriors.

Should the deal be officially completed, Belaid would provide Al-Taawoun's coach with a significant defensive upgrade, as the club aims to compete strongly for top positions in the Saudi Roshn League and appear more stable in the upcoming season.
