Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid and Argentina national team player, broke his silence and sent a message via his social media accounts after the Argentine team lost to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.

This comes as Barcelona have made an offer to sign Alvarez, with the deal still on the negotiation table.

The Argentine international posted on his Instagram account, saying: 'I have eternal gratitude to all Argentines for their constant presence with encouragement, support and faith until the end. We all dreamed of bringing the cup home, but regardless of the result, we will never forget what we lived and felt during these fifty days.'

The Atletico Madrid striker added: 'Winning is beautiful, but representing this flag with dedication, commitment and heart is what defines us.'

Julian Alvarez highlighted the future of the Argentine national team, saying: 'We will rise, learn and continue, because no matter what happens, this is who we are. We do not understand life any other way. We always move forward and fight for our flag and dream of placing Argentina at the very top.'
