Argentina's lineup for the final: Attack takes shape, midfield question mark
Lionel Scaloni revealed some of the basic lineup for the Argentine national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup final against Spain, during the training session opened to the media for 15 minutes in New Jersey on Saturday evening.
During the session, Scaloni distributed training bibs to 12 players, while the goalkeepers trained separately in another part of the field.
The defensive group included Gonzalo Montiel, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martínez, and Nicolás Tagliafico.
In the forward line, Lionel Messi and Julián Álvarez received training bibs, indicating that they are on track to start the match against Spain, according to Argentine newspaper La Nación.
The only question mark was in midfield, where Enzo Fernández, Leandro Paredes, and Alexis Mac Allister participated, along with Rodrigo De Paul, Giuliano Simeone, and Giovani Lo Celso.
According to the report, the last player to be chosen for the starting lineup for the final will be from the trio: De Paul, Simeone, and Lo Celso, while the rest of the positions are nearly decided before the final.
