Legendary Welcome for Egypt National Team After Historic Participation in 2026 World Cup

The Pharaohs were within a whisker of achieving a historic victory over Argentina and reaching the quarter-finals, but they conceded 3 goals in about a quarter of an hour and lost the match 2-3.

During the match, a goal for Egypt was disallowed due to an alleged foul in the buildup, while players appealed in vain for a penalty near the end, which could have turned the result in favor of the Pharaohs.

After the match, Egyptian Football Association President Hani Abou Rida announced that he had filed a complaint with FIFA, demanding an investigation into the match referee, Frenchman François Letexier.
