Belgian Football Federation announces departure of Rudi Garcia from coaching national team

Brussels, July 20 (QNA) - The Belgian Football Federation announced the departure of Frenchman Rudi Garcia, head coach of the national team, after the end of the participation in the 2026 World Cup finals.

The federation explained in a statement today that Garcia, who took over the job in February 2025, will leave his post officially after the Belgian national team exited the tournament in the quarter-finals.

Garcia said, according to the statement: "After consultations with the Belgian federation, we decided not to continue this excellent journey that spanned the past 18 months."

The Belgian national team, under Garcia's leadership, reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup, where they lost to Spain, which was crowned champion yesterday 'Sunday' at the expense of Argentina.
