The top four in the world rankings compete for the World Cup

The Argentine national team secured its place in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup after defeating its Swiss counterpart 3-1 in the quarter-finals.
Argentina opened the scoring early through player Mac Allister in the 10th minute, maintaining their lead until Switzerland equalized in the 67th minute through their player Dan Ndoye, ending regular time at 1-1, with the match decided in extra time.
In extra time, player Julián Álvarez restored Argentina's lead by scoring the second goal in the 112th minute, before player Lautaro Martínez confirmed his team's qualification by scoring the third goal in the first minute of stoppage time in the second extra period.
With this victory, the Argentine team continued its journey in the tournament, setting up a semi-final date and continuing its pursuit of the 2026 World Cup title.
Argentina joined France, Spain, and England, with Argentina facing England on Wednesday, preceded by Tuesday's match between Spain and France.
