Spain's World Cup victory celebrations went beyond lifting the trophy and celebrating with fans; they also included a moment that sparked widespread reaction after Lamine Yamal sent a sarcastic message to the Argentine national team during the victory parade through the streets of Madrid.

In front of nearly two million fans who gathered to welcome the world champions, the Barcelona star raised a sign that read: "Match of the year: Paredes vs Gavi," in a sarcastic reference to the clashes that broke out between players of the two teams after the final whistle, specifically the altercation between Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes and Spain midfielder Gavi.

The phrase mimicked the name of a famous annual Spanish event that brings together celebrities and content creators in exhibition boxing matches, in a humorous hint that the dispute between the players seemed worthy of its own special bout.

The final had ended in a tense atmosphere, with mass confrontations between players of the two teams after the final whistle, and ended with the expulsion of Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández, a scene that stole some of the spotlight after Spain's 1-0 extra-time victory.

Yamal's message was not the only notable moment during the celebrations; the goal scorer of the final, Ferran Torres, appeared wearing a cap that read: "Let's make Spain great again," in a parody of the famous slogan used by US President Donald Trump.

The Spanish team returned to Madrid from New York, where they were officially received by King Felipe VI, before meeting with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and then the victory parade took place through the capital's streets, culminating at Cibeles Square, amid a massive crowd estimated at around two million people.

During the celebration, coach Luis de la Fuente thanked the fans, stressing that the team consists of "26 wonderful people before being 26 wonderful football players," while captain Rodri celebrated with the fans for the title that gave Spain its second World Cup in history.
