Agreement reached, official announcement pending

Belgium national team has settled on the name of its new coach, who will take over the technical leadership of the Red Devils in the coming period.

The Belgian federation announced the departure of its French coach Rudi Garcia, after the team's journey in the 2026 World Cup ended.

Belgium bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup in the quarter-finals, losing to Spain (later champions) 2-1.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Dutchman Mark van Bommel will be the new coach of Belgium.

He added via his official account on 'X': 'An agreement has been reached between the Belgian federation and van Bommel to continue until June 2028, and the coach is ready to replace Rudi Garcia.'

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich player does not have many coaching experiences in his career, having led only three teams: Dutch PSV Eindhoven, German Wolfsburg, and Belgian Royal Antwerp.
