Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn, a first-team player for Al-Ittihad, is close to returning to group training after nearly completing his rehabilitation program, paving the way for him to join the club's external camp in Marbella, Spain, as part of the second phase of the team's preparations for the new sports season.

Bergwijn finishes his rehabilitation program in Amsterdam

Bergwijn missed the start of Al-Ittihad's training, which began last Tuesday, due to continuing his rehabilitation program in the Dutch capital Amsterdam, following the injury he sustained involving a sprain of the internal knee ligament.

Al-Ittihad confirmed via its official account on the X platform that the player has entered the final week of his rehabilitation program and will be ready to join group training during the team's camp in Marbella, Spain.

Details of the Marbella camp

Al-Ittihad's delegation will depart for Marbella on July 14, with the external camp lasting until July 31, as part of the preparatory program for the new season.

Al-Ittihad had opened the first phase of its preparatory program after the summer break, with players divided into two groups.

The first group underwent comprehensive medical examinations at the International Medical Center, the club's medical partner, while the second group conducted physical tests and fitness measurements at the club's fitness hall, aiming to assess the physical condition of all players before traveling to Spain.

Bergwijn's expected return represents an important addition to Al-Ittihad, as the technical staff seeks to regain all key players before the start of the new season's competitions, especially since the player is considered one of the most prominent attacking options in the club's ranks and is expected to provide the team with greater options during the preparatory period and upcoming official matches.
