In the current World Cup, everything has been beautiful - whether the amazing, record-breaking crowds (proving successful marketing of the world's biggest tournament), the smooth organization in stadiums, or the brilliant performances of many major or emerging stars in the teams. However, one thing has not been fair: the selection of the best player in each match, which is done through fan voting, and that takes place after the first half of each game (!!).

The award is presented by sponsor companies that are undoubtedly looking to market their products, so they target stars regardless of their performance, as happened with Vinicius in the Morocco vs. Brazil match, Valverde in the Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay match, Jude Bellingham in the Ghana vs. England match, and Cristiano in the Portugal vs. Croatia match despite being substituted in the second half for not performing at the expected level. These choices are examples of targeting stars regardless of their performance. In our national team's match against Uruguay, everyone agreed that goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Owais alone deserved the Man of the Match title, and that he was behind the 1-1 draw. In the Morocco vs. Brazil match, Bono and Ziyech were more deserving than Vinicius. In the exciting match between Croatia and Portugal, everyone agreed that Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved his country from a looming disaster when he managed to block five shots classified as sure goals, saving them in an incredible way and denying Croatia a victory that would have been achieved without Costa.

In the group stage, England star Jude Bellingham was chosen as the best player against Ghana, but the Real Madrid star surprised those who presented the award with a remarkable statement to BBC Sport, saying he did not deserve it. He said verbatim: 'Perhaps one of the Ghanaian players who performed exceptionally deserved it.' He added: 'I couldn't get into the rhythm of the match as required.' This statement received widespread praise from analysts and fans, who greatly commended Bellingham's honesty and sportsmanship.

What is happening with the Man of the Match award is not professional. FIFA's professional technical committees should have a role in the selection, and the marketing aspect should not interfere.. so that the choice is not exposed in the manner of Jude Bellingham publicly.. and in front of everyone!
