Inter Milan Sign Goalkeeper Ivan Providel
Inter Milan, the Italian Serie A champions, announced on Wednesday the signing of goalkeeper Ivan Providel, who will serve as the second-choice behind Spaniard Josep Martinez. Providel, 32, signed a contract until June 2029 with the Nerazzurri. The goalkeeper, who represented Italy at the under-20 level, had been under contract with Lazio since 2022, making 163 appearances in all competitions over the past four seasons. Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer had been Inter's first-choice since August 2023, before his contract expired at the end of last June. Martinez, 28, will be the team's first-choice goalkeeper, having played 21 matches for Inter since joining as Sommer's replacement. Martinez previously played for Spanish side Las Palmas between 2018 and 2020, then German side RB Leipzig between 2020 and 2022, before moving to Genoa, where he played between 2022 and 2024.
