The England national team secured its spot in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, after overturning a deficit to win 2-1 against Norway in extra time in the quarter-finals yesterday (Saturday), continuing its strong performances under the leadership of its German coach Thomas Tuchel.
According to the statistics network 'Opta', England have won their last two World Cup matches after conceding the first goal (against DR Congo and then Norway), having previously won only one of their previous 23 matches in the tournament when conceding first.

England will face defending champions Argentina in the semi-finals, while France will play Spain in the other match of the same stage.
England had previously beaten DR Congo 2-1 in the round of 32, before defeating Mexico 3-2 in the round of 16, then knocked out Norway 2-1.
