Al-Ittihad Club's chances of signing the Nigerian national team star have diminished during the current summer transfer window, due to an unconvincing offer.

Media reports had revealed that Al-Ittihad entered into competition with Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Nigerian Raphael Onyedika, midfielder of Belgian club Club Brugge, during the current summer transfer window.

However, the Belgian newspaper 'nieuwsblad' confirmed that the offer made by 'Al-Ittihad' to sign the Nigerian player was not convincing to Club Brugge's management.

According to what Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano previously revealed, the Belgian club wants to receive 10 million euros to agree to Onyedika's departure, given that his contract expires at the end of next season.

Al-Ittihad will have to improve its financial offer to sign the Nigerian midfielder, especially as it seeks a new player to replace Brazilian Fabinho, whose contract already ended at the end of last season.

Onyedika primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, and is also proficient as a holding midfielder and center-back. He is 25 years old and has been playing for Club Brugge since 2022.

Since joining the Belgian team, Onyedika has become a regular in the Nigeria national team squad, and has since played 26 matches for them, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist.

Al-Ittihad has been linked with signing several players in the defensive midfield position, most notably Moroccan Sofyan Amrabat of Fenerbahçe and Egyptian Marwan Attia of Al Ahly.
