De la Fuente with great confidence: France faced the best team in the world
Luis de la Fuente, coach of the Spanish national team, described his team as exceptional after qualifying for the 2026 World Cup final, stressing that there is still another step ahead for La Roja.
The Spanish national team dominated thoroughly and defeated France 2-0 on Tuesday evening at the Dallas stadium in the World Cup semifinal.
With this, La Roja booked its spot in the 2026 World Cup final scheduled for next Sunday, awaiting the winner of the other semifinal between England and Argentina.
De la Fuente said in his statements after the match: "It is hard to describe this feeling, but I understand that it resembles happiness. I would like to say that this team is exceptional, and we want to continue progressing and achieve the best; we still have another step ahead."
He added, according to the French network Foot Mercato: "It is a great responsibility to be in the World Cup final. It is a great honor that few get, and we must absorb every moment."
He continued: "We started four years ago with a clear idea, and this idea is what brought us to where we are today, and that is why we are happy."
When asked about defeating the French national team, the favorite to win the World Cup, he explained: "Certainly, we said it in the locker room, we faced one of the best teams in the world, but they in turn will face the best team in the world. These players truly deserve it; they combine commitment and talent, and they have made difficult tasks seem easy. I feel immense pride and happiness."
