Emam Ashour Joins Rare Historic List for Egypt in the World Cup
Emam Ashour, midfielder and star of the Egyptian national team, has etched his name in gold in the Pharaohs' World Cup records during his participation with his country in the current edition of the tournament, held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ashour joined a rare list comprising only two other Egyptian players, Mohamed Salah and Abdel Rahman Fawzy, after scoring a goal against Australia in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.
Ashour opened the scoring for Egypt against Australia when he headed a cross from Kareem Hafez directly into the Australian goal in the 13th minute.
He became the third Egyptian player to score two goals for Egypt in World Cup history, having previously scored in Egypt's 1-1 draw with Belgium in the first round of the group stage.
Ashour also became the second Egyptian player after Mohamed Salah to score in two different matches of the tournament. The Al Ahly midfielder has confirmed his influential role in Egypt's campaign and continues to deliver strong performances as one of the standout players for Egypt in the 2026 World Cup.
