England beats Norway and qualifies for semi-finals of 2026 World Cup
England advanced to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Norway in extra time on Sunday at Miami Stadium in the quarter-final match.
Norway took the lead first through Andreas Schjelderup in the 36th minute, after his shot deceived goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and found the net.
Just before the end of the first half, Jude Bellingham equalized for England in the second minute of stoppage time, leaving the first half tied at 1-1.
In the second half, VAR disallowed a goal for Norway scored by Heggem in the 56th minute after spotting a foul on striker Erling Haaland during the build-up.
With the score still level at the end of regular time, the match went into extra time, where Bellingham scored the winning goal for England in the 93rd minute, capitalizing on a rebound from the Norwegian goalkeeper.
With this win, England booked their place in the semi-finals, where they will await the winner of the Argentina vs. Switzerland match scheduled for later.
