Enzo Fernández has etched his name into the history of the World Cup in the biggest way possible, after recording an unprecedented numerical achievement in the history of global football, during the thrilling round of 16 match against the Egyptian national team.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) recorded the decisive winning goal scored by Fernández in the second minute of stoppage time (92nd minute) with a header that caught goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir off guard, marking it as the 3,000th goal in the entire history of the World Cup since its first edition in Uruguay in 1930 up to the current 2026 edition.
