FIFA Launches Champions Rings for First Time in 2026 World Cup History
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the adoption of "Champions Rings" as an official prize for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ champion, in an unprecedented step in the tournament's history, making the winning team the first to receive this honor alongside the trophy and gold medals.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ champion will be crowned on Sunday, July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium, where the winning team will receive this new symbol of victory, in a move inspired by one of the most famous American sports traditions and bringing it to international football.
FIFA explained that the rings will be issued in a limited edition of 2026 individually numbered copies to celebrate the tournament; 30 rings are reserved for members of the champion team, while 1996 copies will be released to fans around the world as licensed official merchandise, giving supporters the opportunity to own a commemorative piece of World Cup history.
One side of the ring will feature a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the other side will be dedicated to the identity of the winning team. Each ring will be individually numbered, custom-sized to its owner, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
After the final whistle of the championship match, the captain and head coach of the winning team will receive two temporary rings to commemorate the occasion, while the thirty final rings will be crafted according to their owners' sizes before being officially delivered later, remaining a permanent memento of this historic achievement.
