Only two teams had achieved this before France: Germany, who did it twice during the periods (1982-1990) and (2002-2014), and Brazil during the editions (1994-2002).
France joined this historic list by reaching the semi-finals in the 2018, 2022, and 2026 editions.
Les Bleus had defeated Sweden 3-0 in the round of 32 of the current edition, before narrowly beating Paraguay 1-0 in the round of 16.
