France joined an exclusive group in World Cup history with their 2-0 quarter-final victory over Morocco, after Kylian Mbappé scored his eighth goal of the tournament and Ousmane Dembélé reached his fifth goal.

France took a two-goal lead in the second half, with the first goal from Mbappé in the 60th minute and Dembélé in the 66th minute.

The French team became only the fifth national team in history to have two players each scoring at least five goals in a single World Cup.

The previous teams to achieve this feat were Hungary in 1938 with György Sárosi (5) and Gyula Zsengellér (5), Brazil in 1958 with Pelé (6) and Vavá (5), Poland in 1974 with Grzegorz Lato (7) and Andrzej Szarmach (5), and Brazil in 2002 with Ronaldo (8) and Rivaldo (5). Thus, the French duo of Mbappé (8) and Dembélé (5) are now part of that select list.
