British boxer Tyson Fury, who will soon turn 38, confirmed on Wednesday that the best is yet to come for him, ahead of a fight in Thailand on Friday as he prepares for his anticipated bout against compatriot Anthony Joshua later this year. The two-time former heavyweight world champion, speaking from the seaside resort city of Pattaya, Thailand, where he will face the 46-year-old Polish boxer Mariusz Wach on Friday evening, said: 'I don't think the world has seen the best of Tyson Fury yet.' He added: 'Pattaya is a wonderful place, its people are wonderful, and I feel like I'm getting younger. I was supposed to fight in Dublin, but I got an opportunity to fight here, and I'm doing it for a noble cause.' The proceeds from his fight, which will not be broadcast live, will be donated to a charity that helps underprivileged children in Pattaya. The fight takes place at the 'Max Muai Thai Stadium', a small arena that holds 1,500 spectators, whereas he is used to fighting in packed football stadiums. Fury continued, saying: 'I could have sold 100,000 tickets at Wembley or 70,000 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,' insisting that money is not the motivation behind his return to competition. The Briton added: 'I have made a lot of money during my career... I fight to stay in good physical shape and because I enjoy it.' Fury, who is focused on his fight on Friday, declined to comment on the bout he is scheduled to have before the end of the year against Anthony Joshua, an unprecedented match promoted by its organizers as the 'Battle of England'. Fury, known for his eccentric personality, retired from boxing after his second consecutive defeat to Ukrainian world champion Oleksandr Usyk at the end of 2024. He remained a full year without any fight before announcing his return in January, and then in April he secured a unanimous decision victory over Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov in London. As for Joshua, he will face the little-known Albanian boxer Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, in his first fight since the car accident he was involved in in Nigeria last December, from which he escaped with minor injuries, but which led to the deaths of two of his close friends.
