The extraordinary general assembly of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, held today, Wednesday via video conferencing, approved amendments to the statute and election regulations as part of enhancing governance and developing the federation's regulatory frameworks to align with best institutional practices.

The meeting was attended by 46 out of 49 members of the general assembly, and opened with a request from the federation's Secretary General Majid Al-Saheb to adopt the agenda, which was unanimously approved.

The assembly appointed three members to review the meeting minutes: Abdulaziz Ali Al-Rashoud, representative of Al Raed Club; Ahmed Ali Al-Khuraida, representative of Al Khaleej Club; and Abdulaziz Mohammed Al-Sulaimi, representative of Al Wushm Club.

The assembly also appointed three independent observers to oversee the meeting procedures: Hisham Qasim, CEO of the Saudi Basketball Federation; Ali Al-Shahri, CEO of the Saudi Chess Federation; and Khaled Al-Saad, CEO of the Saudi Squash Federation.

The federation confirmed that the approval of amendments aims to complete the regulatory procedures for the electoral process, as it allows the board of directors to advance the election date and elect a new board following the formation of the election committee in accordance with the statute and election regulations. The General Secretariat, through its legal department, will complete the executive procedures, while the election timeline, including dates for opening candidacy for the presidency and board membership, will be announced in the coming period.

The meeting included a speech by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation, in which he praised the leadership's support for football, and the Minister of Sports' attention and follow-up. He reviewed a number of achievements, most notably securing several major hosting events, building strong partnerships with continental and international organizations, the Saudi national teams reaching World Cup tournaments, and returning to Olympic participation after a long absence.
