Italian club Genoa has entered into negotiations with Al-Ittihad to sign Albanian full-back Mario Mitaj during the current summer transfer window, as part of the Italian club's plan to strengthen its squad before the start of the new season.

According to what reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported, Genoa has placed Mitaj among its top targets to bolster the left-back position, following the performances the player has shown with Al-Ittihad since joining the team.

The Italian club's interest comes at a time when Al-Ittihad's management is reviewing the status of the foreign players list, as part of a plan to restructure the team during the summer transfer window, with the possibility of letting go of some elements if suitable offers arrive from both technical and financial perspectives.

Mitaj is considered one of the top candidates to leave "Al-Ameed", especially with the management's moves to secure new deals, which may push the club to agree to his departure if an agreement satisfying all parties is reached.

At the same time, Al-Ittihad's management continues its efforts to strengthen the team with new elements, particularly in the midfield, where Mitaj's departure could help free up a foreign slot, giving the club more flexibility to register new deals in preparation for the upcoming season.
