The Egyptian national football team received a massive public reception upon its return from participating in the 2026 World Cup in North America, after achieving the best achievement in its history by reaching the round of 16 for the first time, before exiting the tournament with an exciting loss to defending champions Argentina.

The plane carrying the Egyptian national team arrived at El Alamein Airport on Friday morning, after the team achieved a great feat by qualifying for the round of 16 of the 23rd edition of the World Cup.

The team was welcomed by a number of ministers and a large crowd, before they boarded an open-top bus to their accommodation in the city of El Alamein ahead of a meeting with the president.

Thousands of fans gathered outside El Alamein International Airport on the North Coast to welcome the team delegation, led by the players and members of the technical and administrative staff, waving Egyptian flags and banners celebrating what was achieved in Egypt's fourth participation in the World Cup finals.

The players rode an open-top bus that toured the airport area, where they exchanged greetings with the crowds that had gathered to celebrate the achievement.

It is scheduled that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will receive the national team players and members of the technical and administrative staff tomorrow, Saturday, in honor of their performance in the tournament.

The Egyptian authorities chose to hold the reception ceremony in the new city of El Alamein, as part of efforts to promote the city as one of the promising investment and tourism destinations, in addition to the ease of securing the event given the expected large attendance of fans.
