African Union confirms tournament start date

The African Football Confederation (CAF) has ended the controversy that arose in the past hours regarding the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, after media reports spread about an increase in the number of participating teams.

The continental federation issued a clarification via its official accounts, stating that its president Patrice Motsepe confirmed, during the press conference he held yesterday Wednesday, that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be held with 24 teams.
