Spain's national team celebrated winning their second FIFA World Cup title on Monday evening, as players danced and cheered atop an open-top bus emblazoned with "Kings of the World" and adorned with two large stars, parading through Madrid's streets packed with enthusiastic fans.

According to government estimates, nearly two million people, many wearing team jerseys and waving red and gold flags, gathered in the Spanish capital to see the players and celebrate Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final held Sunday in New Jersey.

Fran Caratala (34), who traveled from Catalonia in the northeast to see the players' parade in Madrid, said, "We are thrilled to have achieved the dream of winning the World Cup."

Spaniard Daniel Jauna (44) came from Estonia, where he lives, to watch the final on Sunday in Madrid.

As he prepared to watch the players' parade, he said, "Everyone was going crazy. The atmosphere was fantastic. People were so happy. There were no problems, just a lot of joy. It's something you have to come here and experience for yourself."

The Spanish players, wearing shirts that read "We are the champions," except for a few who were bare-chested, constantly waved to the crowd and threw some balls to them.

Some players, such as striker Borja Iglesias, played music atop the bus, which carried a banner on one side and the back that read "Stars shine together."

Before the parade, Spain's King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez received the players. Both had attended the final on Sunday.

Sánchez told the players, "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the coaching staff and the players for your style of play, your effort, and your victory."

He added that he dreams of the possibility of his country winning the men's World Cup for the third time at the next tournament in 2030, which will be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
