Al-Nassr club has decided to sign a former Al-Hilal coach for the upcoming season, following the approach of its former Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya reported that Al-Nassr has decided to sign Brazilian coach Marcos Soares to lead the under-21 team in the upcoming season of the Jooj Elite League.

Assisting Soares in his mission will be his compatriot Fernando Junior as goalkeeping coach, Portuguese Miguel Arias as first assistant, and Badr Aba Al-Hussein as second assistant.

Soares got to know Saudi football through Al-Hilal, specifically in 2021, when he took charge of the under-17 team, before moving to coach the Saudi under-19 team in 2023 and the under-20 team in 2024.

The biggest achievement in the Brazilian coach's career was winning the West Asia Youth Championship for under-17 with the Saudi national team, and qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Soares will have to rebuild the Al-Nassr under-21 team, after they exited the previous edition of the Jooj Elite League in the quarter-finals, following a defeat to Al-Fateh in both legs.

It is noteworthy that the last coach to lead Al-Nassr after working for their neighbor and traditional rival Al-Hilal was Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who won the Roshen League title with them last season, after having won it with 'Al-Zaeem' in the 2023-2024 season.
