Kane sets new record in his England career

Despite England's painful semi-final exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Argentina, Harry Kane, the England captain, was set to make history in English football.

England lost 1-2 to Argentina on Wednesday evening in the World Cup semi-final, currently being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, leaving them to play in the third-place match against France, who lost 0-2 to Spain in the other semi-final.

Kane, who was in England's starting lineup and played the entire match, made his 121st appearance for the England national team, becoming the outfield player with the most caps for the Three Lions.

Kane surpassed the record of retired star Wayne Rooney, who had 120 international caps, and he needs four more matches to equal the record of goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who holds the record for the most appearances for England.
