French star Michael Olise provided two assists in the third-place match of the 2026 World Cup against England.

Olise set up the first and third goals for Les Bleus in the match, which ended with England winning 6-4.

According to statistics network Opta, Olise provided 7 assists during the 2026 World Cup, breaking the record held by Brazilian legend Pelé, who had 6 assists in the 1970 World Cup.

Opta added: 'Among his seven decisive passes, five were to teammate Kylian Mbappé, a new record for the most assists from one player to another in a single World Cup edition in this period.'

Meanwhile, Stats Foot reported that Olise became the first player to provide 7 assists in a single World Cup since Frenchman Raymond Kopa, who achieved the same number in the 1958 World Cup.
