French defender Jules Koundé spoke about his future with Barcelona after the end of his journey with Les Bleus in the 2026 World Cup.

This came amid growing speculation about Koundé's potential departure from Barça during the current summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old French defender played only a few minutes in the thrilling third-place match against England, which ended in a 6-4 loss for France, before sadly bidding farewell to the tournament after another setback with his national team.

After the match and his participation in the World Cup, Koundé spoke in the mixed zone and delivered a message regarding his future plans, following speculation about his possible departure from Barcelona.

Koundé said in remarks to DAZN: "What I hope for is to have a big season, and first to get a good rest so I can come back stronger. I want to have a better season and help Barcelona as much as I can," in a message that made clear his focus is entirely on the Catalan club.

In recent days, Koundé's name has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, as the German club has him on their target list, but they have not yet made a formal offer. Barcelona considers the French defender an important element of the team and will not allow him to leave unless a significant financial offer arrives, which has not happened so far.

Koundé also spoke about his expectations for the World Cup final, but he refused to favor any team, merely noting that the match between Spain and Argentina will be very balanced.

The French defender added: "I won't risk making any prediction. I think it will be a very balanced match. Each team has strengths and weaknesses. We'll see what happens, and I'll watch the match."

Koundé also revealed that he has not spoken with his Barcelona teammates because he "doesn't want to disturb them," wishing them good luck in the final.
