Algerian defender Aissa Mandi announced his retirement from international football, ending a distinguished career with the Algeria national team following his participation in the 2026 World Cup, which was hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Mandi, 34, revealed his decision through a video posted on his social media accounts, showcasing his most notable moments in the 'Greens' jersey, delivering a farewell message after more than a decade of representing the national team.

Mandi leaves the international stage holding the record for the most appearances for the Algeria national team, having played 123 international matches. He was also one of the key players of the generation that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019. Mandi's retirement decision comes just days after former captain Riyad Mahrez announced the end of his international career, following Algeria's elimination from the round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup after a 2-0 loss to Switzerland, thus closing a chapter for two of the brightest stars of the golden generation.
